Female in FG, Male in BG
Observation details
Hit upon a pair while looking for Rain Quails. Previous sighting of this species was a lone male in Feb 2019 around the same site. We were expecting this species to be wintering and this sightings of a pair in July is definitely a good sign of them turning to be a resident. More sightings in the forthcoming years should confirm this. Close to 2 hours been spent with this pair as we observed them feeding from very much the same location just outside a grass clump. Will run and hide inside grass when alarmed, returned back to the same spot to feed after few mins. No dark barring in the breast & upper belly like Barred BQ, brightly coloured in flanks and sides with rufous orange feathers. Female colourful than the male, both had white iris.
