Observation details
A nice surprise in the form of these three gulls. ID could be positively concluded by the sloping forehead, faint ear patch and white iris, thus eliminating the similar Black-headed Gull. We saw them initially at 8:30 am, when they passed us overhead and then flew out of sight. They were back again at 9:20 and 10:55, flying in and leaving in a similar fashion. They seemed to be doing rounds around the lake, and then heading out west (towards Perur lake) and then coming back to Ukkadam. This is possibly the first record in Coimbatore and more so in inland Tamil Nadu.
