Observation details
Medium-large shorebird, very long straight bill, slight curvature at tip. Wading along shoreline of freshwater pond. Light underneath, brownish on back, lighter markings on chest, clear white supercilium. Assumes a hunched appearance when foraging. Bird did not vocalize. Separated from Short-billed Dowitcher (SBDO) because (1) SBDO is very much less likely at this location, and (2) Long-billed Dowitcher (LBDO) is more likely to be found in fresh water. Also (3) LBDO also has a more hunched appearance when foraging.
