Observation details
Observed two, one slightly darker, distinguishing the individuals. The lighter individual, in first basic plumage, remained close to the boat and was chasing terns, a Bonaparte's Gull, and a Little Gull (later noted through pictures). The bird was identified by small size, buoyant flight, light coloration, particularly the head, shape of the central rectrices, and limitation of white feather shafts to the two outer primaries.
