Observation details
**Note: This WMA is only open to birding on Sundays, please abide. Immature spotted right at 7:00 AM (first photograph shows a 7:01 AM timestamp). Blue-green/turquoise flanks starting to come in, very long yellow legs with massive yellow feet, yellow-tipped red bill with blue-ish forehead shield starting to color in. Observed in narrow perimeter ditch or largest impoundment in northern half of Whitehurst Tract. Viewed from primary east-west trail that runs across the center of the impoundments, near the single, short pine tree. Viewed for several hours after putting word out on VA Notables Bird Sightings & Discussion group on Facebook as well as the VA-Birds Listserve. Steve Myers was the first to arrive on the scene, closer to 8 AM, then Andrew Baldelli, Jason Schatti, June McDaniels & Cindy Hamilton, Tommy Maloney, Lewis Barnett & Arun Bose, Ron & Marie Furnish, Nancy Barnhart, Andrew Rapp & Tom Maloney. Hopefully everyone was able to get on the bird, as it would move into the vegetation at times. Video posted here: https://youtu.be/5wz1U5kYV1A
