Observation details
Very rare: continuing juvenile; found yesterday by Cliff Cook; feeding constantly except when startled by unfamiliar sights and sounds (chipmunks calling, GBHE, CANG or even BLJA flying over); feeding on what seemed to be a mix of invertebrates; possibly various larvae and worms; what appeared to be round black balls, I think were longer animals rolled into defensive postures; never flew while I was there; occasionally preened and flapped a few times;
