Observation details
Thanks to Brian Speechley and Carla Jackett for finding, ID-ing and reporting this bird. Found today foraging with Red-capped Plovers on the sand flats, was spooked a few times, and flew back to sand dunes, but returned shortly to the sand. At one point it did a complete circuit of the spot I was standing. Small plover, only slightly larger than the red-capped Plovers. Distinct black breast-band below white band, white frons, white underparts, mostly brown/grey above, dark band on head and below eyes. Bill shortish, orange at base, but mostly covered in sand. Legs orange, and feet with some webbing, though this was not always obvious. See photos.
