Observation details
A winter-plumaged Northern Wheatear continued near the junction of Fox Rd. and Fordyce Rd. on the afternoon of 9-29-2019. It was present on the bollards and on the ground near the bollards at the end of the parking lot across Fox Rd. from the cotton field from 3:22 pm until 4:03 pm. It then flew to a tree farther down Fox Rd. The bird was small and thrush-like with a dark eye, a dark bill, a white supercilium (eyebrow), a blurred dark trans-ocular stripe,brownish-gray upper parts with a cinnamon cast when lit by the sun, dark legs and a tail that appeared to be barred when closed, but when flared, was white proximally, and black distally. The underparts were white except for a buffy cinnamon wash on the throat, breast and flanks.
