Observation details

Adult undergoing prebasic molt and probable juvenile. One individual had a slender red bill with a small blackish tip and mostly black crown. The other had a blacker bill and legs, more white on its forehead, and more black pigmentation in its primaries. First observed sitting on north beach with gulls and pelicans and then flying around the lake. To eliminate Arctic Tern, I noted that their legs and bills were not very short and that their head shapes were elongated rather than rounded.
