Observation details
DR writes: "Discovered this morning by Jeff Barnum (photo) but may be a continuing bird seen only briefly yesterday by BL Sullivan & P Fenwick (and not even confirmed as a Myiarchus, but the location of today's bird was at the same general spot). When we were there, Mark Kudrav spotted it sitting quietly and preening [many photos coming from several photographers], until it began moving around the Virgin Patch, and eventually moved to the main trail intersection willows where hear calling, upslurred 'wheep!' multiple times [tape from iPhone has 3 'wheep' calls, below]. Then disappeared. Others refound in 'chat patch' and then saw it fly toward In-n-Out Burger. Details noted, beyond the call, included long, heavy bill with pale at base of lower mandible; very broad and well-marked white 'wedges' on uppermost tertials; rather dark gray chest; and tail pattern with red inner web extending entirely to include the tail tip of inner web."
