Observation details
On a clump of 8 palmyra trees within the Malampuzha Reservoir on the extreme North-Eastern side these birds were recorded as breeding. In all there were around 20 nests and 40 birds. Most of the nests had big fledglings. While the nests are almost a furlong away from the road, the fledglings could be clearly seen from the road. Adult birds had i) yellowish gular pouch, 2) when the wings are spread, whitish thigh patches, 3) some birds also had whitish belly. It was also observed that the birds were much larger and bulkier than both little and Indian Cormorans.
