Observation details
I had wondered about this odd looking, somewhat like an immature "White-crowned Sparrow" bird, but a few things seemed off about it to me. So I took some photos though badly back-lit, and later today with expert help, it turns out this is a Bobolink! I saw it and took these two photos about 100 feet south of the Blue Grosbeak location (see that species in this same checklist for details on the location). I really appreciate the expert help, Ron mentioned the following details: "is most likely a hatch-year bird as would be expected. Compared to an adult female, a hatch-year has buffy upperparts, richer yellow underparts and less streaking on the underparts compared to an adult female. At this time of the year hatch-years cannot be sexed.".
