Observation details
We were checking trees for songbirds when I thought I heard a wobbly three-noted call from the sky, but convinced myself it was only my imagination. Fifteen minutes later, I was walking along the road towards the gun range and a large shorebird landed 50m from me then raised its wings. It ran across the gun range and began flying off when I managed a few photos. Photos confirmed a tall sandpiper with long yellow legs, skinny neck, small head, and short yellow bill. We spent the next 45 minutes looking and refound it on the lawn close to the archery range running and feeding similar to a plover. We were distracted by a Blackpoll Warbler and looked back to see the UPSA had taken off, but didn’t attempt to refind. I will upload higher quality images in a few days.
