Observation details
Medium-sized warbler. Body size was roughly similar to a White-crowned Sparrow, but tail was shorter and differently shaped. Warm brown upperparts and yellowish buff below. Wedge-shaped tail. White tips of tail obvious in flight. Bill strong with pale base. Pale supercillium. Dull streaks on the back and clear, unmarked rump. Weak and low flight, flying only short distances, then running on the ground for longer distances. It landed in the open a couple of times and was seen by all the birders on the island.
