Observation details
I was playing the ALFL recording to try to get another look at the bird (or birds) that I had seen earlier in the morning. I heard a softer "whip" call in the same vicinity that I had heard and seen the ALFL, but the bird was not responding to the ALFL tape. I played the WILF recording and the bird popped up immediately and flew back and forth excitedly, perching for long enough for me to get some photos. This was definitely a different bird than I had photographed earlier in the morning (see photos). Coloration was a darker, brownish green and wingbars were buff-colored. The bill was larger and it had very little indication of an eyering. Shortly after photographing this bird, I saw the two empids together briefly before they got belligerent toward one another.
