Media notes
female with food for her young one.
Observation details
As of this morning, all nestlings were not out of the nest cavity. The female was seen perched on a tree near the nest site, making her way closer to the hole where she poked her head in to feed the young male, but did not enter. When I arrived at 11:05 am, both adults were in the vicinity. At one point as I was walking around , I must have unwittingly spooked one of the fledglings that was waiting in a spruce tree ( a female that I had no idea was there) she flew to another tree nearby . It was then I noticed a second fledgling, a male, thinking ... the male that was in the cavity opening a couple of days before (which I believe meant he had fledged sometime that morning after his mother had fed him) I moved back and watched quietly until I saw the adult pair return ... the female with a vole which she gave to the young female. I left at 12:34 pm. The female was still @ her perch watching the area where her young ones were sitting hidden in the trees.
