Observation details
I finally got to see one, after many years of "heard only". I hiked out on the trail and on my return I heard two different MACUs north of me calling back and forth, making a contact sort of call. I am not certain but pretty sure I also heard a third one on opposite (south) side of canal, making the same call note but it was pretty distant. The two closer birds were north of me somewhere in the thicker mangroves, so I walked back to parking lot and walked along the edge of it. I twice saw one flying through the mangrove canopy, but only had a very brief view, and then suddenly one landed close but only very briefly. It flew as soon as I took the pic below.
