Observation details
Very far away; in the field estimated, by eye, 3/4 to a mile away. At first observation bird was standing, apparently resting with neck and head not visible, in shallow water of a large pool, either natural or a remnant of flooding, in a section of ag field. Distinguished from Spoonbill by long legs and pink neck. Scorching sun with heat distortion; sun to our backs. Documentation submitted to MBRC on 7/22/19. Photos admittedly very poor but the bird was a mile away and heat distortion was awful. Notes, with drawings, made during observation period on site with pen and pad.
