Observation details
Two adults and four chicks. Observed in what I believe to be the regular place they are seen by the team doing the king rail study. Stunning purple birds with red bills and large yellow feet. The adults would come out from the cattail area to feed. One ran to chase away BTGR and we finally were able to figure out why when we saw one young black chick in a thin line of cattails and the other three were closer to where the cattails were thicker. The birds were never vocal but MANY pictures were obtained by Tom and Ruben Rohn. Please look at descriptions by posted photos. Tom was not able to capture both adults birds in one shot as they stayed a distance apart. I would l ike to think more chicks are there and each parent is keeping an eye out.
