Media notes
This turned out worse than I was expecting. Still identifiable though.
Observation details
Adult almost entirely in breeding plumage still, so fairly unmistakable. First seen in front of some Canada Geese about 2/3 out the mudflat. Stocky sandpiper with comparative short legs (next to surrounding yellowlegs and stilts) and a medium length slightly decurved bill. Larger than peeps and slightly larger than phalaropes, but smaller than Yellowlegs. Legs appeared to be greenish yellow, bill black. Body overall a pale rufous with a speckled looking back (from a distance). Although distant, watched for several minutes and had comparisons to nearby shorebirds. May have gotten some pictures. Glad I brought my dad's long lens!
