Media notes
Most likely a young male Eastern Wood-pewee giving unusual calls and churrdles from the lower canopy of a deciduous tree near the blow-down clearing. This is probably a male as it does some songs later in the cut. He produced some very unusual calls and sounds mostly while perched. He then started singing fairly normal songs. Probably a different individual than was recorded earlier. There are interaction and chasing vocalizations in the cut as well. Recorder HPF on at 80Hz, -12dB/octave.
Observation details
There were at least 5 singing males doing dawn song this morning well before sunrise. It was interesting that most of them became quiet after the dawn chorus. The "family" group consisted of what appeared to be 2 adults and 3 juveniles. I am fairly certain that ML167899751 is a young bird that was trying out his syrinx. He produced some very unusual calls and sounds mostly while perched. He then started singing fairly normal songs.
