Media notes
Adult male Eastern Wood-pewee rustling his feathers while preening and giving one song from a low perch in the open at about 15 meters at 0707. When this male flew up to the canopy there were sounds that appeared to be juveniles begging at 17 meters straight overhead. These little ones were certainly too young to have been giving the calls heard earlier this morning. This male is most likely the same bird as in ML167899551. Recorder HPF on at 80Hz, -12dB/octave.
Observation details
There were at least 5 singing males doing dawn song this morning well before sunrise. It was interesting that most of them became quiet after the dawn chorus. The "family" group consisted of what appeared to be 2 adults and 3 juveniles. I am fairly certain that ML167899751 is a young bird that was trying out his syrinx. He produced some very unusual calls and sounds mostly while perched. He then started singing fairly normal songs.
