Media notes
The birds are flying together and using the wind currents to engage in a variety of acrobatic maneuvers. They are commonly "pairing up": one bird following very closely behind another modeling the lead bird's maneuvers. It is more common that the paired birds are vocalizing, although the non-paired birds also occasionally vocalize. It is often unclear during the paired vocalizations which bird is making the call during the recording. NOTE: the taxonomic status of this population is currently unclear and under study. The common local name is Round Island Petrel. LNS: 100Hz AUHipass filter applied to second and third segments in soundBlade. LNS: Recording is from 1559-1630.
