Observation details
Spectrogram consistent with type 2 or type 1; per https://ebird.org/news/recrtype/, type 2 in the east tends to show more of a gradual descending spectrogram followed by a brief rise. This spectrogram shows an initial ascension followed by a quick and sharply descending section, which is consistent with type 1. I would expect both are comparably expected here, although type 2 may be slightly more regular/irruptive(?). Photos to confirm ID, flying around the south field in the morning feeding on White Spruce, similar to the WWCR last week. Recording is best past about 1:20. Update: Tim Spahr has identified these birds as the eastern variant of type 10, which is not mentioned in my citation earlier. This is possibly an undescribed type of the NE; very interesting! Per Tim, they are characterized by an inverted V, with a harsher, chirpier quality than type 1. A great learning experience, and very interesting to come across this potentially undescribed type!
