Observation details
I initially thought this was a Gray-tailed Tattler because of the whitish vent and lower belly. As CG pointed out, the nasal groove extends much more than half the length of the bill; also, multiple observers heard and I recorded Wandering-like "tee-tee-tee-tee-tee-tee" calls repeatedly, and I never heard slurred plover-like (Gray-tailed) calls from this bird. Head pattern is better for Wandering, with dull white behind the eye and a gray strip coming down from the forecrown to the base of the culmen. Finally, the white on the vent doesn't extend far enough forward into the belly/ lower chest for Gray-tailed.
