Media notes

Habitat: Fresh water pond with water lilies, grasses and sedges. Recordists note: "This animal had been a 'pet', people swimming with it, etc. Unknown age, probably some 15 years or more. It remains in this pond - some 200' across - animal probably 10' long. Residents feed it bread, meat, dead chicken from nearby chicken farm, etc. - throwing food on a cleared area of the sloping bank. Animal then comes up to feed, roaring before or after. also can be made to roar by driving Jeep to near water edge - animal responds to periodic gunning of motor - which may shake ground and vibrate water - this system is almost certain to result in roaring response - any time of year. " Mr. and Mrs. E.V. Komarek are also listed as recordists.
