Observation details
Awesome!!! Two individuals seen well on reeds edge and on open water. While these two birds where in view, two calls could be heard beyond where these two birds where being observed. On two seperate occasions, what I assume where nest alarm calls where made when I was paddleing along the edge of reeds, these birds where not seen but sounded pretty close. Audio recording made of presumed nest alarm. These possible nest locations where about 60-70 meters apart in the same large center portion of marsh. There is a possibilty of another individual or pair, one call/song sounded like it was in a different location while I was on the opposite side, however I cant be sure as two gallinules where very mobile and active. The high water level has matted down a lot of vegetation, ideal habitat for rails. Should be a very productive season!
