Media notes
Two birds heard in the dense undergrowth, in a Gully, in a cold temperate forest. Bird, prominent, in the recording, was first only heard close by, then seen in the lower branches of an Ilex (holly ) tree and was seen hawking insects while calling at the same time. The recording shows no significant change when it leaves its perch and returns. The bird then moves a bit further away and finally flies beyond good recording range / vision. The call is a single repeated high pitched tsi – in between a rattle is also performed. This recording has the following edits – Silence 1 second at the beginning and end, Vocalization normalized to -3db and commentary to -10 db. Other this is as recorded in the forest. The recording has 3 sequences first when the bird was heard and seen in a distance about 15 metres away, then when the observer managed to move closer to about 10 metres and the 3rd section when the bird moved away. Could not make out the gender as the bird was mostly in the shade.
