Observation details
Roosting about five meters high along branch, on east side of seasonal trail just north of Sparrow Field. Massive nightjar with a long, flat head. Face and chest lacked any gray tones, and instead were a rich rufous colour muted only by the black patterning to the feathers. The mantle was a mottled brown, with the exception of a row of distinctly pale gray scapulars with neat little black spots.
