NOTES: (Species Sound: Constant. Breeding Status: Territorial. Sound Delivery Rate: High. Cover Density: None.) From #35 birds (males) facing each other 2-3 at a time displaying. "Cackling" type call from males which appear imm. Sat in blind at booming ground. Side one two cuts - first at sunup then all birds flew away as hawk soared by. Cut 2 - resumed recordig as soon as birdds came back. Side 2 - one long cut follows 2 (turned tape). *See maps in file - Miller, B. for exact location. BNA: Booming sound (produced by syrinx) heard throughout the recording, described phonetically as "whhooo-doo-dooohh", "zooooo...woooo...youoo", or "whur-ru-rrr". "Cackles" may also be heard.
