Observation details

Both in nearly identical fall transitional plumage, but different behavior. Male gave a Ground Challenge call in the distance. Soon I was seeing him fly below me along the slope. He circled up and landed on a prominent rock 30m above me, doing the flight scream. The female flew in making a somewhat similar flight scream, then landed below me. She then ran uphill towards me, clucking, until she was 1m from me on the trail, then flew into the air and landed about 3m from me. Much calling from both individuals. Recordings on xeno-canto.
