Media notes
Elongated sandpiper with black legs and diagnostic reddish at the base of the lower mandible. Wingtips extend beyond tail (but not by much on this individual). Primary extension is considerable. Upperparts of this breeding plumage bird are gray and buff, a bit different from the gray and rufous that is the more standard coloration. Streaking below extends onto flanks. Breast streaking consists of fine black marks arranged in neat rows, with virtually no darkening or coloration of the white breast that serves as the background of the breast streaking. This is more like the breast streaking of the Western Sandpiper than that of the Baird's Sandpiper and many other sandpipers up to the size of Pectoral Sandpiper. The white rump does not show on ML154570211, but it does on ML155457951.
