Observation details
Adult little gull observed amongst flock of thirty Bonaparte gulls. Remained with flock for approximately 40 minutes before rising high in the sky and catching strong southerly winds, then flying northward along the Susquehanna River. Identification was easily determined when the gull was in flight based upon noticeable dark under-wings unlike the white under-wings of Bonaparte gulls. Its wings appeared slightly rounder with less white on edge as compared with Bonaparte gulls. My only observation of little gull was on April 2, 1994, which was the first documented sighting in Luzerne County. It took 25 years to see another one. Welcome back!
