Observation details
A screaming individual was recorded, but the playback didn't work on it. I squeaked and almost within 15 seconds the bird flew into a perch about 15 feet away. I continued squeaking and it flew right at me turning around after I shielded my body with the forearm. It then flew back to another close perch, and continued calling. I was able to get good looks in the spotlight with binoculars. I believe it was a juvenile, recently fledged due to the indistinct barring on the facial disk parameter, lack of obvious spotting on the breast like the adult's illustration in Beehler. It also showed fine vermiculations on the belly, contrasting with the solid breast. The tail appeared not full developed. It continued to scream incessantly while I watched it, and did so until 6:05 am, when I left it.
