Observation details
Numenius sandpiper (where Numenius means crescent) with long decurved bill, but not as long and spindly as Long-billed Curlew. More stout at base and straighter over more of its length than for LBCU. Also, size comparison when bird walked by Marbled Godwit showed it to be comparable, whereas LBCU would have been noticeably larger. Other birders present noted lack of underwing cinnamon tones when bird briefly fluttered wings. In good light, bird also lacked general warm tones typical of LBCU, and sported distinct head striping especially for median crown.
