In some of the pictures I took, the curlew appears to be sleeping for a few seconds at a time, but then open its eyes to check on the nearby gulls.
Very large buff-colored shorebird, larger than a Whimbrel. Very long decurved bill, white eye ring. Photos. Spotted a second time by Amanda T. as it flew in along the protected beach to the public beach. Spent 30 minutes at the edge of the fluddle, shying away from gulls getting too close. At 10:12 am, took off and went North to Loyola then turned back South and landed.
