Observation details
I went to see this bird on February 19, 2012. The first occurrence date was January 15, when the bird was found by a property-owner. The last occurrence date is pending, but it was sometime in March (Martin Parker is supposed to provide the last date). I spent most of the morning at the site, without much luck after repeatedly checking various feeders in the neighbourhood. Late in the morning I suddenly heard a dove calling (singing) from a thick stand of White Pine behind a house, and the calls clearly pertained to White-winged Dove (which I am very familiar with). This sort of threw me, since it was quite chilly even though it was sunny and calm. I almost thought that someone was maybe trying to play a joke on me with a recording. But about a half hour later one or more Mourning Doves also starting singing, so then I was convinced that I had indeed heard the White-winged Dove. After 1.5 hours later I finally saw the White-winged Dove coming to the feeder of the original feeder owner. Here I watched the bird for quite some time, obtaining numerous photos (see attached).
