Media notes
First 4 calls and calls at 1:32.2 and 1:35.25 are of an adult female on feeder. The rest are of an adult male directed at the female. Start of the 2nd segment: upon hearing the female, the male flew ~200 m from the SE giving flight calls from 13-17 secs, then calls while on trunk of red pine. He started calming down from ~1:05 to 1:27 secs. when the female approached within inches of the male but excitedly called once again when she would return back to the feeder (female in flight at 1:42-1:44 secs). The female cont'd to fly back and forth to the feeder while the male stayed on the red pine and at 2:39 it noticeably changed its call notes to a more squeaky tone. Note lower muffled squeaky calls from 3:45-3:55. This was noticeable in the field also. This recording starts at 7:45:59 a.m. EDT; 2nd segment at 7:48:31 and ends at 8:02 a.m.
Observation details
