Observation details
We first assumed this bird was an American Pipit but photos showed that the bill was all wrong for AMPI. Looking through sparrows and longspurs a 1st winter CCLO was the closest we came to identifying this bird. It did show white on the outer tail feathers and has a call similar to American Pipit which seems close to Chestnut-collared Longspur.
