Media notes

Kendron Westcott, a 15-year old lad in 5th form at Nelson College (High School in US) had collected several of these Geckos along the coast near Nelson; and had them in a wooden terrarium with glass front. He had heard one of my bio-acoustical radio talks, so telephoned me to invite me to record his geckos. I tried 3 times, but geckos didn't talk until the last time when he cleaned the cage. After this is done, they re-explore the cage, smelling it over and making these faint chirps, much fainter than the Mourning Gecko I recorded in Hawaii. This species has great variation in color and pattern. Equipment Notes: Tapesonic 70-C recorder; Electro-voice 647-A microphone; 2-transister, battery-operated, grounded-emitter pre-amplifier.
