Media notes

Subtitle: Melampsalta cingulata. Inasmuch as the Cicada was recorded in Lake Paringa, Westland, January 28, 1966 may be an undescribed species, we decided to record Cicadas around Nelson for comparison; and found these on Rough Island (next to Rabbit Island) in an exotic pine plantation. These were high up in tees and we were unable to capture them. This recording is in three parts, the last part appearing to be clicks only; and possibly there may be two species on this cut. Identification later determined that the entire tape is cingulata. Other Behaviors: Reproduction. Equipment Notes: 2-transister, grounded emitter, battery operated pre-amplifer.
