Observation details
Possibly moribund individual... While walking between meetings during the business day, I noticed this bird tucked under a Boxwood shrub, just behind the wrought iron fence on 6th Ave btwn 40th and 41st St. I was hoping for the best, so between my subsequent meeting, two hours later, I stopped to check on the bird. Unfortunately, it was in the same exact spot, not having changed positions - despite the flurry of activity inches away on 6th Ave. Luckily, the bird was protected by the wrought iron fence, but concerned for the bird's health and need for appropriate habitat, I contacted both Wild Bird Fund and NYC Audubon. Unfortunately, no one could retrieve the bird for rehabilitation, and being that it was during the work day, I could not personally attend to it.
