Observation details
Adult bird: black capped, two toned jaeger with very long, straight retrices. Brownish gray back with very distinctive darkish primaries. Coverts were paler than secondaries. Very pale and whitish throat and belly. Dainty fast flying jaegar. Much dantier than parasitic jaegar and significantly smaller than pomarine and parasitic jaegar. Underwings pretty uniform, darkish gray. Very small bill compared to pomarine and parasitic. Wing beats were very different from pomarine and parasitic in that the wing beats were predominately above the horizontal. Pomarine and parasitic traditionally are stiffer winged in normal flight.
