See Species Comments. Bird not seen during time of recording, but all evidence indicated that vocalization was from the bird shown in attached photo. I have no previous familiarity with this "song," and I could not find any good matches to this vocalization in the limited corpus of Cockatiel recordings in the Xeno-canto web-site. Time of recording 07:50.
Observation details
(continuing, since 19 Jan) in same vicinity as previously, east of Darebin Creek a little south of Crissane Road; in addition to usual 'queel' call, also heard singing (I think the attached audio file qualifies as a song) for the first time today. Provenance unknown; presumably an escape, but, as far as I can tell, not assignable to "Cockatiel (Domestic type)" as reported in a checklist from this location on 14 Mar (assuming here that that report applies to this long-lingering individual); for good photo of this individual, see Deb Oliver's checklist of 4 Feb.
