Observation details
***ENGLISH*** Almost every day I make two transects (am and pm) of between 4 km and 5 km in the Encantada Urbanization in Trujillo Alto Puerto Rico. On the path parallel to large tracts of tropical forest and crossing a tributary of the Rio Grande de Loiza with the advantage of being able to make observations from a bridge. After Hurricane Maria, Patagioenas squamosa is more abundant and easier to observe due to the loss of trees. I have observed them in groups of 10 or more birds in trees of Citharexylum spinosum (Verbenaceae) and drinking water from the flowers of the Spathodea campanulata tree (Bignoniaceae), also observed in smaller groups perched on electric cables and other structures. I have uploaded several photos in eBird and today I uploaded some photos and video as evidence, I am a biologist and I have studied abundance of birds and habitat use throughout my professional life, for me to identify the species is simple because of its size and colors and special marks so different from other pigeons, I suggest that once the evidence that I have uploaded to eBird is reviewed, it could be considered to change the alerts of Patagioneas squamosa in Trujillo Alto. Will continue uploading photos every time the numbers exceed 20 individuals.
