In morning flight
Observation details
*high; unprecedented. Certainly one of the weirdest and most awesome things I've seen in Cape May. On the second day following the passage of a "backdoor" cold front in the wake of the extremely fast-moving Hurricane Michael, record numbers of Yellow-billed Cuckoos engaged in a significant morning flight along the Delaware Bayshore, weaving and bursting through coastal dune scrub as they headed north. I observed 30 in the first 10 minutes, and 30 over the next 50 minutes.
