Observation details
South pond. Including one ringed bill I would like to call first winter b/c there was still a good deal of brown on the wings, the back was gray, there were no white spots on the tail, a black tip on the bill which was a sort of pale yellowish flesh color, and its eyes were dark However, its legs were yellow, which I observed when the bird dunked itself, which would point to second winter. So I am stuck between 1st winter and 2nd. I guess the body will catch up with the legs by next winter. I also do not know if the extension of white on the upper mandible into the black is of significance.
