Observation details
After wasting time looking for it in its usual spot I walked over to the canal and broadcasted its call over the water and immediately heard a continuous Whippoorwill song from across the canal. Took me about five minutes to get there and the bird was not singing. I played the app and it replied with a couple of brief bursts of song which I missed until finally getting just the end of one of its songs on the recording it was followed by some whistling calls that I've heard before. It was still rather distant but I think the recording is audible I will try to edit the beginning of the recording as I did not even think I had captured the song until I listened to the replay. It is definitely audible. Reviewer may need high volume but the sonogram tracing is diagnostic if compared to the standard whip-poor-will song.
