Observation details
Stu and I spotted a group of 9 swifts approaching the Tip area from the south and working their way into the wind that was very strong from the WNW. We immediately noticed a darker looking swift that had a steadier flight and as it swung up and past us flying westward we saw it had a DARK throat. Stu also noted a squarish more projecting tail. It flew out of our sight further along the Tip and as we ran after the flight of birds one of the other volunteers approached from that direction and asked if we'd seen the larger dark swift! An extensive OBRC report was submitted including a couple of sketches that Stu and I did as soon as we returned to the bunk house (see attached). The record has since been accepted by the OBRC and details can be found at this link https://anousbirding.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/obrc_blsw_21may20062.pdf
