Observation details
Brownish head and body, black wings with sheen. Large long graduated tail. Larger bill than on Rusty Blackbird. Pale yellow eye. Originally entered as Common Grackle and changed to Great-tailed Grackle on 27 August 2021. Marshall Iliff reviewed photos on eBird and commented on 26 August 2021: "A great vagrant spot...and this proves it! Your bird shows a staring eye, very flat head, long and rather slender bill, and importantly, body plumage that is pale brownish. While juvenile Common Grackles later in the season might show this, they would not have such contrast with the wings. Your bird seems to be an adult female Great-tailed, with dark wings and the typical very pale brown underparts. I see no reason to invoke Boat-tailed, and the crown is too flat (usually more rounded in Boat-tailed) and the bill too slender."
